What does a 24-year-old woman expect from life? Will the pandemic ever allow young minds to establish themselves? When will our Bhutanese society give these eager and excited individuals a chance?

I am the 24-year-old woman I am talking about. And I must say life has been quite a journey, especially after the novel virus. With so much sweat and tears, I was able to graduate from one of the prestigious universities in Thailand and it was my great fortune that after my degree, I was given some privilege to work for almost 3 months in the same country. But then the pandemic stroked the entire world and took its toll on every breathing creature. So I returned home. I had to. My home was the safest place I could think of.

However, what was my plan after my arrival? What were my country’s plans? How do I sustain myself with so little experience and so little knowledge? How will I take care of my old parents?

It was at the beginning of 2020 when His Majesty the King came forward with his farsighted idea of expanding the Guardians of Peace, or so we know as Dessups. You can already guess that I became one. I became a guardian who was given a significant responsibility which I was quite familiar with, yet I thought I knew everything I needed to know. I gradually became content, but if I rephrase it with a gist of reality, I became complacent. I was doing everything I had learned and was taught. I forced myself into thinking that my capabilities were limited and squeezed myself into a box I created in my mind.

But not long after, I received a call from AB Ventures. And to my surprise, they recognized some confusion yet some potential 24-year-old in my voice and decided to give me a try. You can probably imagine what happened next. How the dynamics of my life have changed!

Well, when all light of hope seems to burn dull, I am now trained and taught to become my hope. When I thought I had it all figured out, God placed me in a completely alienated place where I was not only being challenged every day but also learning and exploring software and applications I had no idea existed.

Wise men say that knowledge and skills are the only possession that cannot be stolen, thus, I am constantly encouraged and reminded by my mentors why my effort is the most required ingredient. The skills I have and will acquire will not only enhance my CV but my career as a whole. IT was never my forte; I was more of an idealistic Shakespeare enthusiast. Literature was my cup of tea.

But now, no matter the intensity of any pandemic, I have hope I will withstand it and will sustain myself. With great expectations and confidence, I joined the AB Ventures family. And without knowing that we can use a computer without actually having to drag a mouse, I came out of my cocoon.

I recall, initially when I first started; I made the silliest mistakes even technology could not resolve. It was intense to a point that my intelligence was questioned. And I replied, “I will learn,” but I will always remember what my mentor said next,” that’s the spirit!”
